Introduction

The fixed eyelashes! fake nails! hair extensions! plucking eyebrows! scraping teeth! And so on. Why go for them? are we not pleased with the way Allah created us? why must we enter the prohibitions of Allah to suit our selves or to fit into the so-called modern fashion? Before we move on you might also consider watching this related Video I made on this topic below:

Mind Manipulation

At times we tend to twist things in our minds to make something prohibited look or feel normal. Like when we’re been told fixing artificial hair is Haraam, we get something else to fix to our hair, give it a different name, and claim it is permissible since water could pass through it. Brazilian wool, horsehair, human hair, wig, attachment, virgin hair, and so on, whatever name you call it, it falls under the ruling of hair extension which is clearly haram in Islam.

When we’re told plucking eyebrows is not permissible, we change the word plucking to shaving, trying to manipulate it, to make it seem right, same for fixing nails, eyelashes, scraping the teeth to create a gap for fashion. We try as best as we can to manipulate and try making them look permissible,  but the fact is that the name doesn’t change its Islamic ruling.

Proof

Asma’ bint Abi Bakr said: A woman came to the Prophet (SAW) and said: “O Messenger of Allah, I have a daughter who is newly married, and she had the measles and her hair fell out. Can I give her hair extensions?” He said: “Allah has cursed the one who fixes hair extensions and the one who has that done.”
                                                                        [Bukhari & Muslim (2122)]
It narrated from Aisha(May Allah be pleased with her) that a girl from among the Ansaar got married and she became sick and her hair fell out. They wanted to give her hair extensions, so they asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) about that, and he cursed the one who fixes hair extensions and the one who has that done.
[Al-Bukhaari (5205) and Muslim( 2123)]

Dear Makeup Artist!

From this Hadith, it is clear that the curse is not only for the person wearing it but also for the one who got the hair done. So do you run a beauty Saloon, or are you a makeup artist? Yes!  it is obvious you’d help in plucking their eyebrows, fix the hair extensions (they might even buy them from you), the nails, the eyelashes, etc.

Even though I know that is like what Keeps your business moving in this day and age. And the fact that almost every customer wants that. But  Be careful it’s time to sit, think (your business! halal or haram?) and reflect, (The Deen or Dunya?).

It is clear that Women are forbidden to add extensions to their hair, whether they are made of hair or anything else, if they could be mistaken for hair, because of the hadiths that have been narrated concerning that.

Shaitan’s Aim

Allah Azza Wa Jal tells us:

“O you who have believed, do not follow the footsteps of Satan. And whoever follows the footsteps of Satan – indeed, he enjoins immorality and wrongdoing. And if not for the favor of Allah upon you and His mercy, not one of you would have been pure, ever, but Allah purifies whom He wills, and Allah is Hearing and Knowing.”

[Qur’an 24:21]

Then why do we feel the need to imitate and follow trends around us? Bringing curse upon us? Forgetting our ultimate purpose in this Dunya? Because if we were created for this Dunya, then there’s no need to die, but Allah clearly tells us in the Qur’an, and it came in the hadiths, that this Dunya is temporary, Shaitan will beautify sins and make promises, but Allah says:  “Shaitan promises are false”

Makeup Addiction

Nobody is stopping you from looking Good. I am not stopping you either but inasmuch as we want to look Good let’s keep it simple and nice. Keep at the back of your mind that, fixing hair extensions, & those fixing eyelashes are impermissible.  Those heavy make up we put on, please beware that makeup is just an addiction, and when you get addicted you feel ugly without it.
No one is stopping you from adorning yourself but “please refrain from becoming a plastic doll or a box of crayons”

Don’t overload your pretty face with makeup to the extent it changes your natural features, and Keep in mind that no amount of makeup covers an ugly personality, because no beauty shines better than a good heart. And Allah knows best

May Allah protect us from falling into the clutches of Shaitan, and keep us steadfast on the Deen. Ameen
